Inside Nanairo Dental Clinic

What we treat on the day

These are the problems travellers bring us most often. Our policy for visitors is simple: whenever possible, we complete your treatment in one visit, so you can get back to your trip.

  • Sudden toothache

We find the cause, relieve the pressure inside the tooth, and prescribe pain relief and antibiotics.

    from ¥12,000

  • Crown or filling fell out

Bring the crown if you still have it — we can often re-cement the original.

    from ¥5,500

  • Broken or chipped tooth

We smooth the sharp edge and place a temporary restoration so you can eat comfortably.

    from ¥5,500

  • Swollen gum or abscess

We drain the swelling and prescribe antibiotics. Treated the same day.

    from ¥3,500

  • Pain around a wisdom tooth

We clean and treat the inflamed area. Extraction only if it is truly necessary.

    from ¥3,500

  • Injury to a tooth

A knocked-out or loosened tooth can often be saved. Please come straight away.

    from ¥6,000

Come to us immediately if:

  • a tooth has been knocked out — keep it in milk or in your own saliva, never scrub it, and come within 60 minutes
  • you have facial swelling, fever, or difficulty swallowing
  • bleeding will not stop after 20 minutes of firm pressure

Leaving Japan soon? Tell us your departure date first.

This is the single most useful thing you can tell us. Some treatments — root canals, new crowns, dentures — normally need several visits over 2–6 weeks and cannot be finished during a short stay. Once we know when you fly, we plan the best treatment that can be completed in the time you have: we resolve the pain, stabilise the tooth, and give you a written report in English so your dentist at home can continue seamlessly.

How a visit works

  1. 01

Call us first — and tell us your departure date

Say “Ha ga itai desu” (my tooth hurts). We will fit you in as soon as possible, and knowing when you fly lets us plan treatment that finishes in one visit whenever possible. Walk-ins in pain are always seen.

  2. 02

    Bring your passport and payment

Photo ID, a list or photo of any medicines you take, and cash or a credit card (VISA, Mastercard, JCB, AMEX).

  3. 03

    Examination and a written estimate

We examine, take an X-ray if needed, then show you the cause and the total cost in writing before anything is started.

  4. 04

    Treatment and your documents

For most visitors, everything is done in this one visit: treatment, medication, receipt and, if you need them, English documents for your insurer. A follow-up visit is suggested only when it is truly necessary — and only if your schedule allows it.

Using your travel insurance

Many travel and credit-card policies cover emergency dental treatment. Please note how this works at our clinic:

Our policy — simple and clear

  • You pay the full amount at the clinic on the day of treatment, by cash or credit card.
  • All communication with your insurer is handled by you. We do not deal with insurance companies directly, and we do not offer direct billing (cashless service) or accept payment from insurers.
  • You claim reimbursement yourself after your visit, using the documents we provide. Your insurer refunds you directly.
  • Please contact your insurer before you visit us to confirm your cover and ask which documents they require for a claim.

Documents we can issue

  • Medical certificate in English — diagnosis, treatment performed and dates¥11,000
  • Receipt in English — please ask at reception¥5,500
  • Standard Japanese receipt — issued at every visitFree

Please tell us before treatment begins if you plan to claim, so we can prepare your documents correctly.

What it will cost

Without a Japanese health insurance card, treatment is billed as private-pay care. Our fees are set from Japan's official dental fee schedule (revised June 2026), in line with the Osaka Dental Association's guidance on care for patients without Japanese health insurance. All prices include tax.

  • Emergency visit for toothacheexamination, one X-ray, urgent treatment and medication¥12,000
  • Re-cementing a crown or filling¥5,500
  • Temporary restoration for a broken tooth¥5,500
  • Draining a gum abscess¥3,500–7,000
  • Tooth extraction¥5,000–8,000
  • Prescription for a pharmacy¥2,000

These are typical figures for a straightforward case. Your final cost depends on what we find — you will always receive a written estimate before treatment starts. A full price list covering every treatment is available at reception on request.

While you're in Osaka

Not an emergency? These are completed in a single appointment, by prior booking.

  • Express whitening

    ¥28,000

15 min × 3 sessions, finished in about 45 minutes on the same day.

  • Professional cleaning

    ¥5,500

Removes coffee, tea and tobacco staining. About 45 minutes.

  • Check-up & X-ray

    ¥9,500

Peace of mind before a long journey, with a written summary in English.

Living in Japan?

If you have a Japanese health insurance card, please bring it to every visit. Your treatment will be provided under the national health insurance system, the same as for any resident of Japan. Please also bring photo ID and, if you have one, your medication notebook (okusuri-techo). We are glad to look after you long-term, including regular check-ups and cleanings.
